The Genolier Campus expands with the construction of the Genolier Innovation Hub and implements a site-wide energy improvement project.
Genolier Campus
A major 10’000 sqm construction project has been launched on the Genolier site: the Genolier Innovation Hub.
This structure will enable research advances to be integrated into clinical practice. Located at the heart of the Genolier Campus, the Hub has one ambition: to foster strategic interactions between scientists and physicians, while accelerating the transfer of innovative solutions from research centers to patients’ bedsides.
To achieve these objectives, the Genolier Innovation Hub will host research companies whose programs are at an advanced stage of experimental development, and who have pharmaceutical substances or devices that can be tested in a clinical setting.
With its dynamic, collaborative environment, the Hub will provide invaluable support to stakeholders to help them consolidate their research and development processes and optimize knowledge transfer phases, including in the context of prospective clinical studies.
By bringing together individuals and companies from various fields (Medtech, Pharma, Digital Technology & Bioscience), the Genolier Innovation Hub is open to innovative healthcare companies operating in Switzerland and internationally.
In addition, dedicated facilities for conferences, meetings and educational workshops will enable education and training models to be set up in an innovative environment.
The Genolier Innovation Hub will be operational in September 2024.
With the aim of enhancing the sustainability of the Genolier Campus, a significant energy improvement project has been implemented on the site, to help reduce CO2 emissions in line with the cantonal objectives of the Direction de l’Energie de l’Etat de Vaud (DIREN).
On existing buildings
- Modernization of heating and cooling production facilities
- Guarantee of plant efficiency and/or energy savings
- Increasing the share of renewable energy
- Ensuring redundant installations and a mix of energy sources
- Installation of 261 kWp of power on the various roofs of the Clinique de Genolier, Centre médical and Clinique Nescens buildings.
On the new Genolier Innovation Hub building
- Installation of three 680 kW air-to-air heat pumps
- Large area of photovoltaic panels for electricity, cooling and heat production: 700 sqm
- All roofs are planted with vegetation, including under the photovoltaic panels to improve their performance.
- Planting of native trees on roofs and patios to passively improve indoor climate.
- Retention of 165 m3 of rainwater by the green roof.
- The building is largely buried to limit heat loss (wall against ground, low exposure), and designed with courtyards, walkways and loggias on the facade to ensure good natural lighting for the work areas, protecting against overheating in summer and providing thermal improvement in winter.
- Use of high-performance insulation and triple glazing.
- Ventilated facade for improved thermal balance and indoor climate.
- Maintaining and restoring the lean grassland present on the site as part of the external development work in conjunction with Pronatura.
- 110 kW vehicle charging stations in the parking lot
